Marching/Instruction Experience

Jesse Talbot was a member of the Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps in the trumpet section from 2004-2007, and served as section leader in the 2006 & 2007 seasons. In 2006 he received an award from the Blue Stars for outstanding leadership.

He performs on trumpet several times per year on a freelance basis, most recently with the Notable Singers from Bloomington, MN, as well as performing the national anthem for the Nowthen Threshing show. He will also be performing with the Payne-Phalen Community Band in St. Paul, MN for their inaugural season.

Jesse instructed on the visual staff at Minnesota Brass from 2008 - 2014, and was the interim visual caption head in 2013. Minnesota Brass won its first DCA championship in 2011 and placed 2nd for 5 seasons during his time there. He was also on the visual staff with River City Rhythm for their 2015 – 2021 seasons.

On the marching band side Jesse instructed with the Eastview Marching Band on the visual staff from 2011-2022, serving as visual caption head from 2015-2022, and was on the visual staff at Anoka High School from 2003-2010.

Since the 2016 season Jesse has been a judge with the Minnesota Percussion Association, and he started judging with Tri-State Judges Association in 2023 for field shows and parades. He was also invited to judge the preliminary competition at Youth In Music in 2024.

Personal and Professional Life

Jesse currently works in the power and utility software industry for Open Systems International, overseeing the quality assurance test strategy for software for power and utilities industries since 2020. Prior to that Jesse performed similar roles in the pharmacy industry with Target and Cub Foods since 2010.

He graduated from the University of Wisconsin - River Falls in 2009 with a Bachelor's degree in Broad Area Music, and in 2006 he graduated from Anoka-Ramsey Community College with an Associate of Fine Arts degree in Music.

In his free time Jesse enjoys camping, 4-wheeling, video games, and amateur radio.
