Membership
Our members range from those who are learning a new instrument or skill to others have years of semi-professional performance experience and everyone in between.
Rehearsals
Our rehearsal environment and approach to performance teaches skills well beyond that of the techniques of the marching arts. Our participants and staff foster an inclusive, familial, and fun yet focused environment that embraces problem solving, teamwork, and compassion.
Ensembles
The Govenaires Performing Arts Association (GPAA) is comprised of three performing ensembles to suit a variety of age levels, abilities, and busy schedules.
Govenaires Drum and Bugle Corps
Open to all ages
Season: January - August
Time commitment: weekends, occasional weekday shows
Original competitive field show
Performs at Drum Corps International (DCI) and Drum Corps Associates (DCA) shows locally, regionally, and nationally
Skill level determines placement of individuals within the ensemble
Govenaires Winter Percussion (GWP)
Open to members 22 and under
Season: October - April
Time commitment: weekends
Contemporary competitive indoor show
Performs at Minnesota Percussion Association (MPA) shows and for students via local clinics
Skill level determines placement of individuals within the ensemble
Govenaires Parade and Concert Corps (GPC)
Open to members 18 and over
Season: May - August
Time commitment: approximately 2 weekend days per month (with more in international tour years).
Consistent repertoire from year-to-year
Performs in parades, concerts, and events in town festivals in and around Southern Minnesota
Occasional opportunities for international travel
Proficiency with the repertoire may determine placement of individuals within the ensemble
