Govenaires Return from Historic Shanghai Trip

After months of preparation and over a day's worth of combined air travel, the Govenaires returned home yesterday from their historic trip to China. The touring group — which consisted of current 2016 members, alumni, and people from other drum corps — performed at the 2016 Shanghai Tourism festival.

Members got to experience a huge range of cultural activities and meet many people from every corner of the world. The corps performed for hundreds of thousands of people over the course of a week, including the millions watching the televised night parade on Saturday, September 10.

Make sure to check our Facebook page through out the coming weeks for pictures and videos from this once-in-a-lifetime event!

Govenaires End Season as Open Class Finalists

The Govenaires ended their 2016 competitive season with a historic finish among the biggest corps of the Drum Corps Associates (DCA) circuit. After impressing the audience and judges alike at last Saturday's preliminary competition, the corps decisively advanced to perform at DCA Open Class finals the following Sunday.

With a score of 84.45, the Govenaires finished in tenth place among the top all-age corps in the U.S.

From 2004 to 2015, the Govenaires competed in DCA's Class A division (corps with a membership of 35 to 65 people). For ten of those seasons, the southern Minnesota corps finished either first or second, capturing Class A championships in 2006, 2009, 2011, and 2015.

Making the jump to Open Class (corps with a membership of 65 to 135 people) is not an easy transition for any corps to make, but the Govenaires were able to accomplish their strongest finish to date.

Stay tuned for updates on our upcoming 2017 season. If you're interested in joining or just want to attend one of our rehearsals, click here.

Govenaires to go DCA Open Class

Since 2004, the Govenaires have competed in Drum Corps Associates (DCA) Class A division, with lots of memorable performances and four championship finishes.

For 2016, we're proud to announce that we will compete in DCA Open Class among the top groups in the circuit!

We are thrilled to take this next step and want to thank our staff, current members, alumni, volunteers, DCA, drum corps fans, and the city of St. Peter for all the support over the years.

Looking ahead to the more immediate future: some spots are full, but if you're still interested in spending a summer with the Govies, come check us out at our next rehearsal weekend on April 23-24.

Govenaires Announce 2016 Show

A lifeless body appears in the middle of a busy London thoroughfare. The few noticeable pieces of evidence do not add up. Only one person can decipher this deadly puzzle: Sherlock Holmes.

For the Govenaires’ 89th anniversary, they will dive into the brilliant yet peculiar mind of the legendary detective. The 2016 production is a kinetic adventure into the underworld of London, led by a man who some consider to be a heroic genius (while others view him as an anti-social madman).

Sherlock ventures from the mysterious crime in action, to the deductive hunt for clues. Will he unravel from the pressure of solving this case, or will he rise above and capture the person responsible?

Find out this summer, as the Govenaires perform their most dangerous show.

"When you have eliminated all which is impossible, then whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth." Sherlock Holmes
